AUDIENCE RESEACH: EXIT POLL DATA

PRESENTATION ON EMAZE:

Below is a link to the main presentation I did on audience research. I based my audience research on films that were released very recently from the BFI website. https://app.emaze.com/@AOIWFTRL/audience-research

I have also conducted a presentation using EMAZE to clearly present my audience research: EMAZE PRESENTATION

CASE STUDY: TORTOISE IN LOVE

I did some research on how the BFI Print and Advertising Fund help a small, crowd-sourced film to gain distribution. Its story is told HERE

As I am making a low budget, independent film myself, it was interesting to see how the film producer went about getting the film released.

HERE  IS A LINK TO THE TRAILER.

Tom, gardener at the big house, is not a fast mover with women. In fact he's glacially slow. When beautiful Polish au pair Anya arrives for the summer, Tom falls for her catastrophically like the felling of one of the giant trees he cares for in the manicured grounds.

Both seem impossible dreams until the whole village decides to lend a hand.Tom, gardener at the big house, is not a fast mover with women. In fact he's glacially slow. When beautiful Polish au pair Anya Tom's adviser in matters of the heart is young Harry, abandoned by the rich owners of the house to run wild in the gardens. Harry's secret wish is for the Red Arrows to appear at the village fair: Tom's is to win the heart of Anya.

SOCIAL GROUPS FOR MY FILM OPENING

MY SOCIAL GROUPS

For this task I am asked to consider my age group for the film opening that my group are doing and to consider the following questions:

1: WHAT ARE THE SOCIAL GROUPS REPRESENTED IN TERMS OF GENDER, AGE, CLASS, RACE, OCCUPATION AND SEXUALITY ETC.

2: IS GENDER REPRESENTED IN A STEREOTYPICAL WAY E.G. A WOMAN AS PASSIVE, MEN AS DOMINANT?

3: WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER SOCIAL GROUPS?

4: HOW DOES THIS LINK INTO THE TARGET AUDIENCE?

I am going to show you a very close correlation to our film and will explain the relevance in deeper context.

SHUTTER ISLAND;

being the influence of our film idea it has great relevance to our film for a number of reasons.

FIRSTLY:

The era of this film is very similar to our film, but this is not the major reason why I use this film as an example. In our film we want to divulge and express horror in the most gruesome way possible. Shutter Island portrays the horror that we want to show in our film. The protagonist of the film who is played by Leonardo DiCaprio plays a U.S. Marshall. Teddy Daniels, who is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from the hospital of the criminally insane.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

The age certificate for this film is an 18. The main reason being is because our film shares some common ground with 'SHUTTER ISLAND'. We would like for our audiences to be deeply drawn into our film and I think we will succeed as many teenagers today are interested in films of this genre. This film received an 8.1 out of 10 on IMDB.
